Manchester United manager wants Barcelona forward with 21 G/A at Old Trafford | OneFootball

Marcus Rashford has proven to be a valuable addition for Barcelona this season. Arriving on loan from Manchester United, the 28-year-old forward has already contributed with nine goals and 12 assists in all competitions.

So much so that Barcelona are now keen on making the England international’s signing permanent, although they are reluctant to pay the €30 million purchase clause agreed in the loan agreement.

Change of heart at Manchester United?

However, in a surprise twist, The Telegraph (h/t Mundo Deportivo) reports that Manchester United may have had a change of heart with regard to Rashford’s future at the club.

The 28-year-old England winger had been marginalised when Ruben Amorim was in charge at Old Trafford, but the recent appointment of Michael Carrick as the interim head coach has changed perceptions.

Indeed, Carrick, who has started his spell at Manchester United in positive fashion, is keen to bring back his former teammate.

According to this report, Carrick intends to include Rashford in his future plans, although it should be noted that, for now, his appointment as Manchester United coach is only until the end of the current season.

However, there is a growing number of voices in favour of Carrick remaining in the role beyond the ongoing campaign. Should that happen, his intention would be to reintegrate Rashford into the project.

As far as Rashford is concerned, he has gone on record about how happy he is at Barcelona and how he wishes to continue at the club beyond the current campaign.

Whether that stance changes with Carrick’s influence, provided the 44-year-old continues as Manchester United manager beyond this season, remains to be seen.

As for Barcelona, they wish to sign Rashford permanently, but not at the €30 million price. Instead, they will try to lower the fee or offer players in exchange, with Marc Casado a possibility.
