Manchester United have offered Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni a five-year deal, according to AS journalist Jose Felix Diaz.
Man United want to strengthen in the middle of the park and are looking to bring the 26-year-old Frenchman to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are hoping to agree personal terms with Tchouameni before holding talks with Madrid, and they have made him a ‘very good’ offer.
It is unclear whether the France international is open to joining Man United following Jose Mourinho’s arrival at the La Liga club.
Tchouameni is currently at the World Cup and will finalise his future after the tournament.
The Red Devils missed out on Mateus Fernandes, who joined Tottenham Hotspur from West Ham United.
They have several other options on their radar, but a move for the Madrid star appeals to them given his experience and quality.
However, persuading Madrid to sell him could prove tricky, especially if Mourinho insists the Frenchman is a big part of his plans for next season.
Tchouameni has spent the last four seasons in Spain, winning every available trophy at club level, and a move to the Premier League could appeal to him.
Having him and Kobbie Mainoo in the middle of the park could be a game-changer for manager Michael Carrick.
Any move will have to wait until after the World Cup later this month, and the Red Devils will continue to keep tabs on the Madrid star as they are desperate to get a deal for him over the line.
