Manchester United reduce Alejandro Garnacho asking price as agreement with Napoli nears | OneFootball

Manchester United have reportedly lowered their demands for Alejandro Garnacho, in a bid to reach a compromise with Napoli over his transfer to the Italian club.

Garnacho’s future at United is in doubt as the team’s struggles to find form under Ruben Amorim persist.

It has been suggested that United are open to letting Garnacho leave this month, with Napoli and Chelsea expressing the strongest interest in the Carrington academy graduate.

Napoli boss Antonio Conte is believed to be the one driving his side’s pursuit of Garnacho, who he views as an ideal replacement for the departed Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

There have been claims that Garnacho has agreed personal terms with Napoli and is open to sealing a switch to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, amidst some uncertainty over his role in Amorim’s preferred system and style of play.

United are thought to want a sum of £65million to sanction Garnacho’s sale – a figure Napoli deem excessive.

Earlier today, it was stated that the Red Devils held a meeting with Napoli to try and find a solution that satisfies all relevant parties.

Now, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has given an update on the matter, indicating that Amorim’s side have lowered their asking price, in an effort to try and ensure a deal gets over the line.

According to Di Marzio, “Distance narrowed between the parties: the English club showed up with the willingness to meet Napoli’s needs.”

“The two clubs met today, Tuesday 21 January, at 12:00 for the Argentine talent, born in 2004. The Red Devils have lowered their demands: they have gone down from the initial 75 million to around 65 (whether that is 55+10 bonus or 60+5).”

“Although Napoli is currently stuck at around 50-55 million euros, the distance between the parties has narrowed. The feeling is that the deal could close if the blue club reaches 60 million.”

“Clearly, this investment requires the green light from President De Laurentiis: today’s meeting, however, has allowed Napoli to get closer to Garnacho.”

Di Marzio notes that United will certainly not go below €65m for Garnacho.

The responsibility now lies with the Partenopei to determine if they can present an offer that United would consider acceptable.
