The defender’s season has been disrupted by injury

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim says he will welcome Luke Shaw back from injury in "the right moment", amid talk of Patrick Dorgu’s imminent arrival.

Though it was described as a “small” setback at the time, the left-back has subsequently missed the last 14 games in a row across all competitions.

Ultimately a decision was made to leave the England international out of the squad that travelled to Romania.

Shaw is expected to sit out this weekend's clash at home to Crystal Palace, with Amorim remaining cautious to reveal when the defender will be back in first-team action.

“It can take a little bit more time,” Amorim told reporters. “I think he needs to train more, to spend more time with his team-mates playing even like normal, small-sided games, not just working alone.

“He stayed there [at Carrington] to make a different type of work, he’s going to get together with the team when we arrive and start from there. When I feel it is the right moment, we will start with some minutes in the games.”

Shaw’s return to fitness comes at a time when Man Utd are reportedly close to completing a deal for Lecce defender Dorgu as Amorim seeks to address a problem on the left side of the pitch.

Reports claim that it is just a matter of time before the Denmark international is cleared to have a medical before becoming the first signing of the Amorim era.

Jonny Evans and Mason Mount will also be sidelined on Sunday, but Amad and Alejandro Garnacho are pushing to start after making a huge impact as second half substitutes in the 2-0 win over FCSB.
