Karl Darlow has emerged as a Manchester United target as his Leeds United contract runs down this summer.
According to The Athletic, United are considering a move to add depth and experience to their goalkeeping department. Darlow joined Leeds on a three-year deal in 2023 and, as it stands, will be a free agent this summer.
The 35-year-old reclaimed the No 1 spot midway through 2025/26, starting 22 Premier League matches. He initially covered Lucas Perri’s autumn injury, then kept his place from January after a run of strong displays.
United signed Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens for around £18 million last summer and he impressed in his first season. Behind him the options are thin, with Altay Bayindir, a £4 million 2023 signing, having struggled and expected to depart. Darlow’s homegrown status adds appeal.
Leeds want to keep Darlow and are set to table a new contract offer. Wolves’ Sam Johnstone is also being considered by Michael Carrick’s side, having come through United’s academy.
Manager Daniel Farke has praised Darlow’s performances and character, saying he rates him extremely highly and that there is strong mutual trust. He added he will only speak about the future once everything is confirmed.
Darlow is a Wales international and currently first choice under Craig Bellamy, factors that, alongside free-agent status, could draw multiple suitors.
