Nottingham Forest head to Sunderland with fresh transfer noise as The Telegraph reports Manchester United are weighing up a summer move for Elliot Anderson as they plan for life after Casemiro. Real Madrid and France midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni is also said to be under consideration. Forest would demand a significant fee for the England international.
The timing is far from ideal for Forest. Anderson has become a key figure at the City Ground, and uncertainty over his future is an unwelcome distraction amid a relegation battle.
Sunderland host Forest in the Premier League at the Stadium of Light on Friday evening and could move to seventh temporarily with a win.
Elsewhere, Harry Wilson, loosely linked with Sunderland, is expected to join Aston Villa on a free transfer this summer when his Fulham contract expires. The Wales international is understood to be keen on the prospect of European football.
Villa’s interest is not new, with the attacking midfielder said to have been on their radar since January. Unai Emery wants to strengthen his attacking options next season and is said to view Wilson as a strong stylistic fit.
With his Fulham deal expiring in June, the 29-year-old will become a free agent and has yet to agree fresh terms. Interest has emerged from elsewhere, but Villa are thought to be well placed given the potential of European football at Villa Park.
Wilson is expected to wait until the end of the season before making a final decision. Villa qualifying for the UEFA Champions League could prove decisive. Financially, they are believed to be ready to offer terms that would effectively double his current salary.
