Manchester United wide man, Antony, is in a formal dispute with his former club, Ajax, over claims of unpaid wages during his time in Amsterdam.

The Brazilian’s claims stem from Ajax fining him for his behaviour surrounding his mega money move to United in 2022.

The Dutch giants were initially against letting the player leave before United eventually agreed an eye-watering £81 million deal for the winger.

As reported by Sport Witness, Antony’s actions helped force the move with Ajax fining him for unprofessional behaviour at the time.

The 24-year-old claims the fines were unlawful and has been in dispute with his former club for the last two years.

With no resolution in sight, Antony’s representatives have recently approached the KNVB arbitration and are hoping for an answer in the coming weeks.

Reports state a hearing took place earlier this week and the verdict is expected within a month’s time to finally put an end to the saga.

Dutch pundit Jack van Gelder has been close to the ordeal and discussed the ongoing battle between player and club on De Oranjewinter.

Soccer News have relayed his comments and claims Van Gelder has made ‘mincemeat’ of the Brazilian’s dispute with the Amsterdam club.

“Antony wants some money. He played for Ajax and was at one point in the interest of Manchester United. Ajax wanted a certain amount, and Manchester United initially didn’t want to pay that. It lasted and lasted. Antony then dug in his heels and became ill, weak and nauseous,” he said.

“Ajax then withheld money from his salary. Ultimately, he went there for a record amount of €100m. The case was heard on Monday and a decision will be made soon,” claims Van Gelder.

Antony’s time at Old Trafford has been underwhelming to say the least with the player failing to get up to speed with the Premier League and struggling for form under Erik ten Hag.

Things haven’t improved under Ruben Amorim with the Brazilian clearly not part of the new head coach’s first team plans.

It’s expected United will look to move the winger on in the summer, if not in this window, to end his disappointing stay at the Theatre of Dreams.
