Manchester United Women have confirmed that Marc Skinner has left his role as head coach by mutual consent.

Skinner has departed his role after five years in charge, following a fourth-place finish in the Women’s Super League (WSL) last season. United missed out on European qualification as a result.

Skinner’s time with the club included a first-ever major trophy with FA Cup success in 2024, one of three consecutive finals the club reached with the 43-year-old at the helm.

Manchester United have released a statement thanking Skinner for the ‘significant contribution’ he made to the progress of the Women’s side.

“Marc Skinner has departed his role as head coach of Manchester United Women by mutual agreement,” a statement said.

“Appointed in 2021, Marc led United to four domestic cup finals in four seasons, winning the club’s first major honour in women’s football with the 2024 FA Cup.

“During his tenure, United also finished runners-up in the 2022–23 Women’s Super League, securing qualification for the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.

“Last season, the team reached its first League Cup final and the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

“Marc leaves having made a significant contribution to the continued progress of Manchester United Women. The club places on record its sincere thanks for his professionalism, commitment and dedication throughout his time at United, and wishes him every success in the future.”
