Manchester United’s Amad Diallo scores superb goal to inspire Ivory Coast to comfortable AFCON victory | OneFootball

Manchester United star Amad Diallo continued his excellent form at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Tuesday

He scored to help Ivory Coast secure a 3-0 victory over Burkina Faso.

The 23-year-old then turned provider as his low cross reached Yan Diomande, who side-footed into the net from 18 yards. 

Brentford forward Dango Ouattara threatened to pull one back before Bazoumana Toure put the game to bed with a late third. 

The 2023 AFCON winners will now lock horns with Egypt in the quarter-finals following their 3-1 win over Benin on Monday. 

Diallo has been one of the standout performers at the tournament, with three goals and an assist to his name. 

He will go back to a new manager at Old Trafford, as Ruben Amorim has been sacked after a breakdown in relations with the club’s hierarchy. 

Darren Fletcher is now the interim boss, but a caretaker appointment is expected to follow.

Amorim played Diallo out of position at right wing-back. It will be intriguing to see whether his replacement makes the same mistake.
