In defence, Lucas Digne and William Saliba both scored 6.3, with Jules Koundé on 5.8. Dayot Upamecano again impressed, taking the third-best mark at 6.8, higher than the journalists’ 6.

In midfield, Michael Olise was the only disappointment at 6.3, which exceeded the journalists’ 5 and was the biggest gap between the two sets of scores. Adrien Rabiot stayed dependable on 6.7. Manu Koné topped the lot with 7.4, also the highest mark from the reporters at 7.

Up front, Désiré Doué was narrowly the lowest at 6.5 and Ousmane Dembélé edged ahead on 6.6, his goal sealing the result. Mbappé, who missed a first-half penalty but struck his eighth of the tournament, finished on 7.3.
