Bayern Munich have just beat St. Pauli 3-1 to extend their stay at the top of the Bundesliga to 44 consecutive matchdays – a club record.
Speaking after stoppage time goals from Luis Díaz and Nicolas Jackson, Neuer discussed his Bayern Munich future, with his current deal expiring in 2026.
“The crucial factor will be how I feel,” Neuer told Sky Germany. “We’ll see in the second half of the season. I’ll think about it more towards March.”
Club bosses would like to tie Neuer down to a new one-year contract, while Sven Ulreich will likely call time on his playing career. Should the 39-year-old sign an extension beyond the summer, Alexander Nübel, who is currently on loan at VfB Stuttgart, will likely be sold.
And although Neuer has reiterated time and again that he has no interest in returning to the German national team for the 2026 World Cup, he again insisted that a return to the setup is out of the question.
“The fact is, I deliberately retired,” added Neuer. “My focus is on the club.”
