Marc Bernal has become the latest figure from Barcelona to address the growing speculation surrounding Julian Alvarez, with the midfielder admitting he would welcome the Argentine striker at Camp Nou.
The Julian Alvarez Barcelona transfer story continues to dominate headlines, with Barcelona remaining attentive to the Atletico Madrid forward’s situation despite resistance from their La Liga rivals.
While negotiations remain uncertain, Bernal has said that he would be pleased to see the World Cup winner join Hansi Flick’s squad, although he stressed that the current group is ready to compete regardless of what happens in the transfer market.
The Julian Alvarez to Barcelona saga has become one of the biggest talking points of the summer, with several members of the Blaugrana camp already commenting on the potential move.
When asked about Barcelona’s interest in the Atletico Madrid striker, Bernal avoided putting pressure on the club but acknowledged that any addition would be welcomed positively inside the dressing room.
Speaking to El Chiringuito TV about the Julian Alvarez Barcelona links, Bernal said: “To be honest, there’s nothing I can do about it.

“I will be happy with whoever comes, and if no one does, we’ll fight to the bitter end with the players we have and the squad we’ve got.”
Barcelona continue to monitor the Argentine’s future closely, especially after the forward informed Atletico Madrid of his desire to leave this summer.
Club president Joan Laporta has also publicly admitted that there have been contacts between the parties involved, further intensifying speculation over a possible transfer.
However, Atletico Madrid remain reluctant to negotiate with one of their direct domestic rivals, making any agreement difficult to achieve.
The Julian Alvarez transfer story took a significant twist when Atletico Madrid launched a social media campaign directed at Barcelona amid persistent rumours linking the striker with a move to Catalonia.
The campaign generated widespread discussion, but Bernal admitted he largely ignored the situation and preferred not to become involved.

“I didn’t pay much attention to them, and in the end I didn’t quite understand the situation, but in any case, I won’t get involved in anything.”
Despite the tension between the two clubs, Barcelona are still hopeful that circumstances surrounding Alvarez could change in their favour during the remainder of the transfer window.
Beyond discussing the Julian Alvarez Barcelona situation, Bernal was also asked for his thoughts on José Mourinho’s return to Real Madrid.
The midfielder showed considerable respect towards the Portuguese coach, recognising the impact Mourinho had during his first spell at the Santiago Bernabeu.
“Mourinho was a legend as a manager at Real Madrid; he’s a brilliant manager.
“We’re looking forward to it with great enthusiasm. After all, they strengthen their squad every year, and we’ve managed to get the better of them, so we’ll fight and prepare for it – it won’t be easy at all,” he concluded.
