What is going on at Chelsea right now with strikers? Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu are both coming back apparently.

Chelsea have verbally agreed a deal with Sunderland to recall striker Marc Guiu from his season long loan move there after just three league games. This comes after Liam Delap went off injured in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Fulham on Saturday afternoon and Chelsea look to replace him for the time being.

Then there was the Nicolas Jackson situation that’s been going on the last 24 hours. He’s been in Munich trying to complete his loan move to Bayern. But when Delap got injured, Chelsea told him to come back and did not agree to let him take his medical to join the German side and the move was called off. There was even then reports suggesting Chelsea were looking at outside strikers to come in and replace Delap, but it looks like too little too late in that sense.

So both Jackson and Guiu are coming back? Surely not? Making sense of this one seems impossible, so let’s see if transfer expert Fabrizio Romano can help with that.

As cited on X, Fabrizio Romano spoke on the Chelsea striker situation last night. He says:

“Bayern have tonight told Nicolas Jackson and his agent Ali Barat to return to Chelsea. But let’s see what will happen – because Chelsea have agreed to recall Marc Guiu from his Sunderland loan. So let’s see what will happen with Jackson. As of tonight, I’m not in a position to say this story is over. Right now Bayern told Jackson ‘you have to return to London because you’re a Chelsea player and we don’t have the green light from Chelsea to proceed’. Let’s see what will happen on Monday.”
