Ligue 1+ has appointed Marc Las as editorial director as it gears up to become Ligue 1’s exclusive broadcaster next season.
According to L'Équipe, his arrival was announced to staff on Thursday. He will report to Jérôme Cazadieu, editorial and marketing director of LFP Media, and work with Frédéric de Vincelles at Mediawan Sport, the platform’s production partner.
Journalist Samyr Hamoudi, who helped launch the LFP channel on behalf of Mediawan Sport, has been detached from the project.
Las previously held the same role at the L'Équipe channel, which he has just left after around a decade.
An initial approach led by Nicolas de Tavernost, the LFP Media chief who is now departing, came before the current season for the launch of Ligue 1+, but it did not come off.
He has now chosen to make the move, with significant work ahead for the platform’s second season.
From next term it will have 100% of Ligue 1 matches, whereas beIN Sports holds a marquee fixture this season.
The service still needs to grow to satisfy subscribers and attract new ones, with a rise in the subscription price expected.
