Marcelo Teixeira warned, Alexandre Mattos suspended as Santos fined by STJD | OneFootball

The fifth Disciplinary Commission of the STJD fined Santos R$ 5,000 for delay, converted a 15-day suspension for president Marcelo Teixeira into a warning, suspended director of football Alexandre Mattos for 20 days, and gave football manager Gustavo Ferreira the same converted sanction, Diario Do Peixe reports.

The case was heard on Monday and relates to the 2-2 draw with Botafogo at Nilton Santos in the 30th round on 26 October last year. Referee Rodrigo Jose Pereira de Lima recorded the incidents in his report.

The report stated that at half-time Mattos entered the field, confronted the officials loudly with finger pointed, used offensive language, pulled the referee’s shirt and was restrained by police. It said Teixeira and Ferreira then approached in the mixed zone in threatening fashion, with further insults and accusations, and that the intimidating conduct was repeated.

It also noted delays of two minutes at kick-off and three at the restart attributed to Santos. Added time reflected substitutions, treatment of possible injuries and hydration breaks requested by the CBF doctor.

Auditor Ramon Rocha Santos read the case, with club lawyer Dr Marcelo Goes presenting the defence and adding Mattos to the hearing. Mattos disputed the phrases attributed to him, said he entered to remove Santos players, denied pulling the referee’s shirt and said he did not demand a foul. Sub-prosecutor Eduardo Araújo Ximenes deemed the remarks offensive and sought convictions.

The defence asked for acquittal over the delay, argued Teixeira and Ferreira’s words were an outburst rather than an insult, and said Mattos entered to take players away. Charges cited CBJD articles 206 and 191 III for the club, 258 paragraph 2 II for Teixeira, 258-B paragraph 2, 254-A and 184 for Mattos, and 243-F for Ferreira.
