Enzo Maresca has insisted Chelsea should have ‘scored more’ despite the club’s 3-0 win over Wolves at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea climbed up to second in the Premier League table after a comfortable win in West London, as second-half goals from Malo Gusto, Joao Pedro and Pedro Neto sealed success against the struggling visitors.
Despite dominating, Chelsea were frustrated by winless Wolves during a goalless first half. The breakthrough eventually arrived on 51 minutes, when Malo Gusto met Alejandro Garnacho’s cross to head home his first Chelsea goal.
With the floodgates opened, Joao Pedro slammed in a second, before Pedro Neto completed the rout against his former club from another Garnacho assist.
Maresca admitted post-match that he was pleased with the performance but believes Chelsea could have won by a bigger margin.
“We are happy with the performance,” Maresca said.
“I was very worried before the game because these are always tricky matches, but in the first half and second half, we created so many chances and didn’t concede anything.
“Even in the first half, I was happy with the performance, and the difference between the first and second halves is that in the second we scored goals and in the first we missed many chances.
“You need to be clinical, otherwise the game is always open and anything can happen. In the second half, we scored three goals, could’ve scored more.”
