Maria Cruz, 19, has joined Valadares Gaia for the 2026/27 season, ending her time at Benfica. According to Glorioso 1904, the Portugal under-18 international moves on a permanent deal.

In her first comments at the club, she said she was very happy to sign for such a historic side in the Liga BPI.

She arrived at Benfica at the start of last season following spells with Porto, Clip Teams and Gil Vicente.

In 2025/26 she played 20 times for Benfica B, then departed at the end of June.

She is the second player in a week to switch from Benfica to Valadares Gaia, after Joana Silva was confirmed on a permanent deal following a loan in the second half of last season.
