Leonardo Balerdi will miss the upcoming FIFA World Cup after sustaining a right calf injury in training, and his withdrawal from Argentina’s squad has been confirmed.
According to GetFootballNewsFrance.com, the Olympique de Marseille centre-back, 27, suffered the problem during preparations for a warm-up friendly against Honduras. The tournament starts on Thursday.

He had travelled to North America aiming to help Argentina retain their world title, but that opportunity has gone.
An initial assessment indicated a lay-off of between two and three weeks, which had raised the possibility of a return during the competition.
