Olympique de Marseille are reportedly keeping a close eye on developments regarding Mattia Zaccagni (30), according to various Italian media outlets.
Under contract with Lazio until 2029, the Cesena-born player is said to be open to the idea of joining the Provence-based club. However, the completion of a potential deal could well take some time, as Gennaro Gattuso, who is set to become the Roman club’s new manager, is said to want to convince him to stay, given his deep attachment to the club.
An experienced winger, Zaccagni joined Lazio in the summer of 2021 and has since made nearly 200 appearances for the club. Captain and a key player in Maurizio Sarri’s side, the Italian international (13 caps, one goal) enjoyed a season in which he started 29 of the 30 matches he played, scoring four goals and providing two assists.
Valued at €12 million by the specialist website Transfermarkt, Zaccagni could thus become a partner for Igor Paixão (25) – should the latter remain at OM this summer – ahead of a season that Marseille will once again begin with ambition.
