According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Olympique de Marseille are in advanced negotiations with Juventus for Timothy Weah (25). The US international, a Ligue 1 winner with Paris Saint-Germain and Lille OSC, has been receptive to Marseille’s interest and has reportedly already agreed on personal terms with the French club.
Romano writes that Marseille want to structure the agreement around a loan with a mandatory purchase option, and that the transfer fee is still being discussed between Marseille and Juventus. L’Équipe reported earlier today that Marseille had tried to leverage Valentin Rongier (30) into the deal, but the Serie A side were unmoved by the proposal.
Weah would provide Marseille with the flexibility that was lost with the departure of Luis Henrique (23) to Internazionale Milan. Luis Hernique had once been likened to a Swiss army knife by former head coach Jean-Louis Gasset, and like the Brazilian, Weah can play multiple positions, excelling as both a winger and a wing-back.
