Manchester United have compiled a five-man shortlist to replace Marcus Rashford, which includes a surprising candidate who grew up as a fan of the Red Devils.
Barcelona are now “convinced” they want to sign Rashford permanently by triggering a £25 million purchase option at the end of the season.
Marcus Rashford, who has scored ten goals and provided 13 assists for Barca, is eager to remain at Camp Nou. Michael Carrick was reportedly counting on the Englishman for next season, but now United will have to look elsewhere for a new left-winger.
Spanish publication Sport claims that Manchester United are interested in Martial Godo, whose reputation has soared since his move to RC Strasbourg.
The England-born Ivory Coast youth international left Fulham to join the Ligue 1 side in a £6m deal last summer.
Godo was a United fan as a child and idolised Dimitar Berbatov.
During his loan spell at Wigan Athletic, he played against the Mancunians in the FA Cup in January 2024 and impressed with his frightening dribbling ability.
Now aged 22, Godo has added end product to his one-on-one ability, having been directly involved in 17 goals in 29 appearances for Strasbourg across all competitions.
However, Strasbourg are owned by Chelsea’s parent company BlueCo, who are likely to push Godo towards Stamford Bridge if he continues to excel in France.
United are also reported to be interested in RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, Como youngster Jesus Rodriguez, Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola and Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye.
Diomande is believed to be United’s preferred choice for the left flank, but RB Leipzig are expected to demand a fee in the region of €100 million for the Ivorian.
Meanwhile, Ndiaye, 26, is an appealing target due to his Premier League experience. Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming “Ndiaye may look for a move” despite Everton’s determination to keep hold of their best players.
