Arsenal faced off against Bayer 04 Leverkusen at the BayArena earlier this evening as they hoped to secure a positive result on the road in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League tie. The Gunners made a solid start to the game but were held to a scoreless draw at the half-time break.

The North London club conceded the opening goal in the 46th minute when Robert Andrich found the back of the net. Mikel Arteta’s men found the leveller thanks to Kai Havertz’s penalty in the 89th minute. The match ended with the Gunners earning a hard-fought 1-1 draw away from home.

He made a couple of solid saves at the back but failed to keep a clean sheet.

Timber earned the ball back once and made one decent run on the right flank.

He cleared the danger when he could, but failed to keep a shutout.

CB: Gabriel – 6.5/10

Gabriel put his foot through the ball when needed and was accurate with his passing.

LB: Piero Hincapie – 6/10

He struggled to get a foothold in the game and was fortunate to last the whole 90 minutes.

CM: Martin Zubimendi – 6.5/10

Zubimendi anchored the midfield well at times but failed to make an impact in the final third.

CM: Declan Rice – 6.5/10

He was full of energy and running at the centre of the park.

CM: Eberechi Eze – 6.5/10

Eze caught the eye at times, but there was no goal for him.

RW: Bukayo Saka – 6/10

He caused some problems for his marker, but didn’t do enough to register a goal.

Gyokeres engineered one good chance in the final third but failed to find the back of the net.

He managed to shine at times on the left flank, but there was no goal for him.
