Martínez lashes out at Dorival after Corinthians dismissal

José Martínez criticised Dorival Júnior on Sunday night, minutes after Corinthians announced the coach’s dismissal.

The player said in a post that he left the team because of Dorival, adding that the coach would now have to face the consequences. He also wrote that God was in charge and that the truth would soon come out.

Martínez won the Copa do Brasil alongside Dorival. His stay then became untenable after he reported back 35 days late and with a serious injury to his left knee.

Now without a club, the Venezuelan has undergone surgery to repair his anterior cruciate ligament and is expected to resume training only towards the end of the season.

Aged 31, he played 70 matches for Corinthians, scored two goals and lifted two trophies, adding the Paulistão under Ramón Díaz to the Copa do Brasil.
