The Premier League have appointed Robert Jones into the role of on-field match referee for Manchester City’s trip to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon.

It is yet another mammoth outing for Pep Guardiola and his players in the English top-flight, with every contest being a must-win at present as they maintain pressure on the league leaders Arsenal at a hectic period of the season.

Last time out saw Manchester City cruise to a largely comfortable 3-0 win over West Ham United at the Etihad Stadium, temporarily taking them to the division’s summit before Arsenal responded with a 0-1 win at Everton to reclaim top spot.

Aston Villa remain in the picture too, sitting one point behind Pep Guardiola’s players in third position having defeated Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United by a 2-1 scoreline at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon.

City’s visit to the City Ground will come off the back of a three-day festive break for the players, while Guardiola has insisted that he will be monitoring the weight of his stars ensuring that they do not over-indulge over Christmas.

And ahead of the meeting between Nottingham Forest and Manchester City, the Premier League have now announced the list of match officials to oversee proceedings at the City Ground!

Match Referee

Ahead of Nottingham Forest against Manchester City, the Premier League have confirmed that Robert Jones has been appointed into the role of match referee for the contest at the City Ground.

The 38-year-old match official has so far overseen 16 contests across all competitions – including the Premier League, UEFA Conference League, and UEFA Champions League Qualifying – this season, issuing 64 yellow cards, and awarding three penalties in the process.

As for Manchester City and their record in contests officiated by Jones, Pep Guardiola’s players have only lost one of the 12 such matches, winning 10 and drawing the remaining one fixture.

City have already come across Robert Jones once this season, as the Merseyside official took charge of their comfortable 5-1 home win at the Etihad Stadium over Scott Parker’s Burnley in late September.

The only defeat in a match officiated by Jones came in the Carabao Cup last season, as City succumbed to a narrow 2-1 defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the fourth round of the competition.

Assistant Referees

Accompanying Robert Jones at the City Ground this weekend will be an assistant referee pairing of Neil Davies and Nick Greenhalgh, the Premier League have confirmed.

Video Assistant Referees

Overseeing Nottingham Forest against Manchester City from the VAR Hub at Stockley Park this weekend will be Video Assistant Referee Andy Madley, accompanied by Assistant Video Assistant Referee Dan Robathan.

Fourth Official

Standing between the two dugouts managed by Nottingham Forest’s Sean Dyche and Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola will be referee Gavin Ward, appointed as this contest’s fourth official.
