Brentford Under-21s will be back at Gtech Community Stadium on Tuesday as they host Coventry City Under-21s in the Professional Development League (7pm kick-off).

The clash will be Sam Saunders’ side’s third at the Premier League stadium this season, the first two fixtures bringing big wins for his young Bees.

Following two games in four days - which brought the west Londoners six points - Brentford have enjoyed a longer build-up to this game as they look to continue competing at the top end of the PDL table.

As it stands, the Bees sit second in the table with 41 points, three points behind league leaders Sheffield United and one point in front of Peterborough United. Saunders’ side hold a game in hand.

Brentford will be forced to move on quickly from Tuesday’s clash as they hit the road to face Sheffield Wednesday on Friday.

Last time out

A second-half added-time goal by Beau Redknapp saw the Bees complete a 3-2 comeback win over Bournemouth last time out.

After conceding early in the game, the west Londoners responded immediately through Luca Picotto to equalise, and the young Cherries found a second before half-time.

Saunders’ side dominated the second half and were rewarded through Ethan Laidlaw, who found the back of the net with a superbly struck free-kick from outside the box.

The winner came through Redknapp, who ran onto a Picotto cut-back near the edge of the box and sent it into the top left corner to secure the win.

The victory was Brentford’s second of the weekend, having beaten Millwall 3-2 three days earlier through a Riley Owen winner.

The young Sky Blues are fresh from back-to-back defeats to Barnsley (2-1) and Fleetwood Town (2-1); however, they defeated league leaders Sheffield United 1-0 in late February.

Coventry competed in the Premier League Cup this season, finishing fourth in Group D with a win, three draws and two losses.
