FC Bayern are currently in excellent form – but now, of all times, the international break is upon them. While the Munich side are in the flow in sporting terms, there are growing concerns internally about a possible interruption to the rhythm of success. CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and sporting director Max Eberl are making clear statements

Following their commanding progress in the Champions League against Atalanta Bergamo, Vincent Kompany’s team is stable, focused and consistent. The high pace of the game suits Bayern well, explained Dreesen after reaching the quarter-finals, and emphasized that the intensive weeks with many games in particular had created a positive rhythm

This rhythm is a decisive factor for success: automatisms work better, processes are well-rehearsed and self-confidence grows from game to game. Bayern have currently reached precisely this state

This makes the upcoming international break all the more critical. „Unfortunately, this is no longer the case,“ Dreesen made clear with regard to the interruption to the game schedule. The break comes at an inopportune time – especially in view of the decisive phase of the season, in which every detail can make the difference between success and failure

In addition to the loss of rhythm, the strain on the national team players is a particular concern, as Dreesen put it clearly: it is crucial „that everyone returns healthy from this international break“

Immediately after the international break, the CL thriller against Real Madrid awaits. Bayern will visit the Estadio Bernabéu on April 7, with the return match taking place at the Allianz Arena a week later (April 15)

Eberl makes a clear appeal to national team coaches

Head of Sport Max Eberl also looks to the coming days with a certain degree of scepticism – and at the same time makes a clear appeal to those responsible for the national teams. Although the exchange is close, the expectation is clear: „Of course you are always in contact and of course you also try to talk to them.“

Eberl relies on a common understanding: „We’re all in the same boat right now,“ emphasized the 52-year-old, pointing out that both clubs and national teams have an interest in fit players

Especially because the upcoming games are test matches, the Bayern boss is hoping for sensitive strain management. The health of the players is clearly a priority – not only in the interests of Munich, but also with a view to the upcoming international tournaments. „They would like to have them at the World Cup tournament three months later,“ explained Eberl

The message is clear: caution in dealing with the players benefits all sides. Accordingly, Eberl expressed the hope „that the national coaches will also show some consideration“

Focus on the decisive weeks

For FC Bayern, it is clear that the coming weeks will set the tone for the rest of the season, especially in view of the upcoming Champions League clash against Real Madrid

Dreesen was nevertheless optimistic: „Well, we have to find our rhythm again and hopefully we will do that.“ The team looks solid and mentally ready for the challenges

Nevertheless, there is still a residual risk: the combination of an interrupted playing rhythm and increased pressure makes the international break a potential disruptive factor – at a time when Bayern are actually running at full speed
