Matheus Cunha was Manchester United’s first major signing of last summer.
The maverick Brazilian turned down several clubs in favour of a move to United, who triggered his £62.5 million release clause to secure his services from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Cunha has quickly established himself as one of United’s most important players, and now the Red Devils are considering signing another Wolves attacker.
Earlier this week, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming that Manchester United have held initial talks with Mateus Mane‘s agent in recent days.
Wolves sit at the bottom of the Premier League and appear destined to be relegated. However, their latest breakout star has delivered a number of exciting moments to get the Molineux crowd off their seats. Most recently, he impressed with his astute display against league leaders Arsenal.
The 18-year-old dribbling wizard has also attracted the interest of Liverpool. However, according to a report in Spain, United are leading the race for the Portuguese-born sensation.
It is claimed Mane is “looking to make the definitive leap to a more competitive environment” to continue his development. His camp are unlikely to fancy a stint in England’s second tier.
United are prepared to capitalise on the situation as they admire Mane’s versatility and exceptional skill set.
It is believed the Wolves star sees the opportunity to move to the Theatre of Dreams as “incredibly appealing” despite interest from Liverpool.
The Midlands side are thought to be demanding £50m for Mane, but United remain undeterred in their pursuit and talks have already started between the parties to reach a consensus on a more reasonable figure.
There is a belief Wolves would be forced to lower their demands after dropping down to the Championship. Furthermore, United hope Mane’s desire to join their project would prove to be the deciding factor in the summer.
Apart from Mane, United are also monitoring RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande and Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon. It is safe to assume both high-profile forwards would cost twice as much as Mane if the Premier League giants decide to step up their interest.
