Tottenham Hotspur forward Mathys Tel would ideally like to remain at the club despite speculation surrounding his future, according to Sky Sports.
The Spurs star endured a turbulent campaign in north London, but believes he can continue his development under new Roberto De Zerbi.
Tel wants stability after a chaotic 18-month spell at the club, during which he has worked under four different managers.
The 21-year-old faced repeated uncertainty over his role throughout the season.
He was initially left out of Tottenham’s Champions League squad under Thomas Frank before being recalled in December to cover for Dominic Solanke’s injury absence.
Once Solanke returned, Tel was again pushed out of the picture, fuelling growing interest from clubs across Europe during the winter transfer window.
However, De Zerbi’s arrival proved to be a turning point for the versatile forward.
Tel earned the Italian’s trust with influential performances, including one against Wolverhampton Wanderers, where Spurs secured their first league victory of 2026.
From there, Tel started each of the final four league games on the left flank, contributing a goal and an assist as Spurs retained their top-flight status.
Tel’s season also included off-field challenges, having suffered racial abuse on social media after missing a penalty in Tottenham’s Super Cup shoot-out defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
Tottenham still need another left-winger, but Tel is a fantastic weapon to call upon.
