With the FIFA window opening, Matías Viña is set to reunite with Arrascaeta, De La Cruz and Varela in the Uruguay camp after leaving Flamengo, according to Coluna Do Fla.
The left-back departed Flamengo at the start of 2026, joining River Plate on loan. He remains a Flamengo player, with a contract through to the end of 2027.
In Marcelo Bielsa's last squad before the final 2026 World Cup call-up, Arrascaeta, De La Cruz and Varela were selected. That points to the Flamengo trio being well placed for the tournament.
Uruguay face England at 16h45 Brasília time on Friday 27. The last assignment is against Algeria on 31 March at 15h30 Brasília time.
While the Uruguayans are on duty, Flamengo are on a second day off. Leonardo Jardim's squad are due to report back on Wednesday 25 to focus on the next assignment.
Flamengo visit Red Bull Bragantino on the second of April in the ninth round of the Brasileirão, kicking off at 21h30 Brasília time in Bragança Paulista.
