Ipswich Town beat Hull City 1-0 at Portman Road to rise from fourth to third, making it three league wins in a row.
In the 71st minute Azor Matusiwa rifled into the top right from outside the box after Leif Davis picked him out.
Before the breakthrough, Ivor Pandur kept Hull level with sharp stops from George Hirst and Marcelino Núñez, while Christian Walton remained largely untroubled at the other end.
After the interval, the Tractor Boys found extra thrust down the left once Davis came on, and his delivery created the decisive opening. Jack Clarke then struck the left post from close range (74.).
Lewie Coyle departed injured before the break, forcing an early reshuffle for Hull.
The Tractor Boys registered 15 attempts, with seven on target. Hull failed to record a shot on target.
Next, the Tractor Boys host Leicester City in the Championship. Hull face Millwall at home.
