On the back of a 5-2 humbling friendly defeat at the hands of European power Belgium on Saturday, the Argentine headmaster shed light on what may come with the Stars & Stripes.

Ahead of a summer of expectation stateside in the 2026 World Cup, the former PSG and Tottenham boss, who had recently been linked with a possible return to North London, has opened the door for remaining at his current post.

“Who knows what is going to happen,” Pochettino said, ahead of the USMNT's upcoming friendly bout against Portugal as their summer preparations continue.

“We are open. We don’t have (a) contract for the future, but why not if we are happy and the federation is happy?"

“You can never say never. In football, everything can happen," he continued.

"I am very happy. Of course, it is tough, it is a massive challenge, it is a bigger challenge than we thought or believed when we came here."

"But we are a coaching staff that loves a challenge.”

That challenge is substantial as well, with the US also locking horns with Senegal and Germany before tackling a World Cup group featuring Paraguay, Australia, and the winner of UEFA Path C, featuring a final clash between Kosovo and Turkey tomorrow evening.
