Maurizio Sarri undergoes minor heart procedure, Lazio say he should return soon | OneFootball

Maurizio Sarri underwent a minor cardiac procedure on Monday after atrial fibrillation was detected.

The club said in a statement that the 66-year-old had a catheter ablation at Policlinico Tor Vergata in Rome, carried out with the club doctor present, and that it was successful. It added he should resume leading the team in the coming days.

Sarri has coached since 1990 at Napoli, Chelsea and Juventus, with Chelsea winning the 2019 Europa League and Juventus champions in 2020. He returned to Lazio in early June after a first spell between 2021 and 2024.

This season Lazio have six wins, five draws and five defeats in the league, and sit eighth in Serie A on 24 points.

On Saturday, matchday 17, they were pegged back late by Udinese to draw 1-1. Their next game is scheduled for Saturday at 15:00 against Naples at the Stadio Olimpico.
