Manchester City’s Ruben Dias has split with partner Maya Jama after 18 months, according to newspaper reports.
As the first-team squad at the Etihad Stadium undergoes a structural rebuild under incoming new manager Enzo Maresca, Dias now faces an equally monumental transition in his personal life.
The 29-year-old centre-back, who has been integral to Manchester City’s successes since arriving at the club from Benfica in 2020, had formed one half of a celebrity power couple since late 2024.
The timing of the high-profile separation adds a layer of emotional pressure to an already chaotic summer schedule for both global figures, with Dias preparing to represent Portugal at the upcoming FIFA World Cup in North America.
Meanwhile, Maya Jama’s professional portfolio has reached an all-time peak with commitments to BBC’s Celebrity Traitors and the new series of Love Island, leaving both stars navigating the realities of long-distance constraints and public attention.
Now, according to claims from The Sun newspaper, Maya Jama and Manchester City defender Ruben Dias have split after 18 months of dating, calling time on their relationship three weeks ago before the former flew to Scotland to film the latest edition of The Celebrity Traitors.
The newspaper points out that the pair have also both begun to delete photos of their time together from social media platforms, whilst a source is quoted as saying, “It’s been a difficult time for them.
“While they both care for each other so much, they truly gave it their all and realise that they just come from two different worlds.”
Since moving into a reported £4 million home together in Cheshire late last year, the couple’s shared environment faced external stress, including a highly-publicised burglary while Dias was away on Manchester City duties.
Ultimately, balancing the rigid commitments of a top-tier Premier League football career against the unpredictable, nomadic lifestyle of a major entertainment presenter proved unsustainable.
Now, as the newly single Love Island presenter prepares to jet to Mallorca for the launch of Series 13, both parties are focused strictly on their respective professions.
