Mbappé denies Real Madrid doctors examined the wrong knee

French star Kylian Mbappé denied, on Wednesday, reports claiming that Real Madrid’s medical department had examined the wrong knee while assessing his recent injury, a physical issue that kept him off the pitch for nearly two months starting in late December.

According to the Spanish and French press, the France captain was examined on his right knee by his club’s medical staff, a mix-up that supposedly delayed the assessment of the actual injury, which was located in his left knee.

“The report that they examined the wrong knee is not true,” the forward said during a press conference held on the eve of the friendly between France and Brazil at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, in the United States.

“Maybe I’m indirectly responsible, because I didn’t say anything. When you don’t communicate about what you have or what is happening, you leave the door open to interpretations and everyone takes the chance to seize the opportunity. It’s part of the game,” explained the 2018 world champion.

Mbappé, 27, said on Monday that he had fully recovered from the physical problem that had been causing concern for the French national team just a few months before the start of the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada (from June 11 to July 19).
