Kylian Mbappé marked his 100th cap with a brace as France beat Iraq 3-0 in a one-sided contest. Michael Olise supplied two more assists and Ousmane Dembélé scored his first goal.

According to Le Progres, the front line offered encouraging signs for the rest of the tournament.

Jules Koundé, rated four, mixed overlapping runs with inside positions and saw a pass for Mbappé cut out at the penalty spot in the 18th minute. He was replaced by Gusto in the 83rd minute, his first appearance at this level.

Dayot Upamecano, rated seven, was aggressive in duels and asserted himself in his zone against Iraq’s attackers. He looked to move the ball early, going long towards Bradley Barcola in the 19th minute and seeking Mbappé with direct passes.

Mike Maignan, rated five, had a quiet evening, collecting one low cross in the opening half. Al-Hamadi went just wide in the 75th minute, otherwise the goalkeeper was largely untroubled after a subdued display against Senegal.
