Manchester United are planning to hold talks with Kobbie Mainoo over his long-term future during the next international break.
As things stand, the 20-year-old’s contract will expire in the summer of 2027, though the club will have the option of extending his deal by an additional 12 months.

However, they are instead looking to award Mainoo a new deal entirely to reflect his new status at Old Trafford. He has been seeing out the same contract since he first made his meteoric breakthrough into the first team, with Capology estimating that he pockets around £25,000 per week.
United would’ve understandably wanted to hold off and see how the youngster fared in the senior setup before rushing to award him a lucrative payrise, yet have now seemingly conceded that he’s not only deserving of one, but that they also risk his head being turned by outside interest if they don’t put an offer on the table.
TeamTalk claims that United will ‘accelerate discussions’ with the Carrington graduate the next time club action hits pause in March, during which Mainoo will be hoping he’ll receive his first England call-up since Thomas Tuchel succeeded Gareth Southgate.

It comes amid the starlet, whom Casemiro hailed as a ‘complete player’, being fully restored to the XI following Ruben Amorim’s dismissal and starting every game under Michael Carrick.
United have been unbeaten in that time, winning five matches and drawing once, and Mainoo has been integral to such dominant displays – particularly against Arsenal and Manchester City, where he covered the most distance of any player on the pitch across the 180 minutes.
