"I am a completely fulfilled woman, in life and in football," said Melvine Malard. As reported by L'Équipe, the Manchester United forward, 25, heads into France duty targeting qualification for the 2027 World Cup, thriving in England with United second in the Women's Super League.

The previous day she started on the left against Liverpool, repeatedly driving at her full-back and helping defensively. Her inside cut and a switch of play in full stride unpicked the defence before the first goal, and United went on to win 3-1. A lap of honour followed in front of 4,500 at Leigh Sports Village.

"Today I am in the right place for football. I could not dream of better. It is the place to be, as they say here," she added a day later. The former Lyon striker is an ever-present this season and United have qualified for the Women's Champions League.

Since leaving Olympique Lyonnais in 2023, she has relished duels with Millie Bright, Khadija Shaw, Leah Williamson, Lucy Bronze, Mariona Caldentey and Kerolin. "Those girls are examples. Being around them is wonderful."

Big matches now come at Old Trafford and the Emirates, and Wembley staged the FA Cup finals of 2024, won, and 2025, lost, in front of more than 74,000. "The noise on every attack and every contact, I still get goosebumps."

Away from the pitch, she shares a 43rd-floor city centre flat with her partner Justine and has a wedding planned for June. "Because of all that, I feel a better player and a better human being."
