Memphis Depay made his first appearance of 2026 for Corinthians, starting in a 2-1 defeat to Bahia in the Brasileirão opener on Wednesday night.
Leading the line alongside Yuri Alberto at Vila Belmiro, the 31-year-old played 63 minutes. The club said he missed the first games of the season while undergoing a muscular rebalancing programme.
He registered two shots, one on target and one blocked, and created two chances. He had 42 actions on the ball, lost possession 16 times and completed 72% of his passes, 21 of 29.
Depay played through the closing stretch of 2025 with bone oedema in his left knee. His early January lay-off was the longest of his Corinthians spell.
His last outing came on 21 December, when he struck the decisive goal in the 2-1 Copa do Brasil win over Vasco da Gama at the Maracanã.
Since September 2024 at Parque São Jorge, he has made 66 appearances, scoring 19 goals and providing 14 assists, lifting the Copa do Brasil and the 2025 Paulistão.
The minutes against Bahia build towards the Supercopa do Brasil. Corinthians face Flamengo on Sunday at 16:00 at Mané Garrincha in Brasília.
