Dani Olmo’s first season at Barcelona has been commendable barring his injury woes. When fit, the player has shown to be a lethal presence in the final third and is one who does not shy away from taking responsibility.

Despite joining the club only in the summer, Olmo has not struggled to adapt to Barcelona’s style of play and a part of the reason is because he trained at the famed La Masia as a youngster before making the move away from Spain.

Speaking to the club’s official social media, Olmo gave his best XI of all time and his choices show just how much he resonates with the ‘Barcelona way.’

Blaugrana all the way

The attacking midfielder opted for a 3-4-3 to depict his ideal XI and began his formation with Victor Valdes in goal – a player who is widely regarded to be the best goalkeeper to come from La Masia.

In defence, he picked the legendary Carles Puyol, Jordi Alba, and Ronald Koeman as his combination, once again paying homage to some of the greatest players to have ever graced the club.

Olmo’s midfield comprised three players he idolized growing up and a combination that is widely considered to be the greatest midfield trio of all time – Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, and Sergio Busquets.

The fourth player fitted into the midfield was Argentine legend Diego Maradona.

The Barcelona star’s dream attack included Johan Cruyff – the man who gave Barcelona its identity – as the centre-forward. Lionel Messi, the best player in history, and Ronaldinho complete his lineup on the right and left wings respectively.

Olmo returned from his injury in Barcelona’s game against Valencia last week and once again came off the bench against Sevilla. His prominence will only increase as the season rolls on.
