Mexico tops Puerto Rico for W Championship berth

TOLUCA, Mexico – The 2025/26 Concacaf W Qualifiers continued with Mexico securing a 6-nil win over Puerto Rico in Group A on Saturday at Estadio Nemesio Díez in Toluca, Mexico.
Alexia Delgado opened the scoring in the 11’ as she pounced on a rebound from the keeper’s save.
Mexico’s lead was extended in the 32’ off an own goal from Puerto Rico’s Estefanía González.
Scarlett Camberos notched the third of the match in the 39’.
Up 3-nil at the break, Mexico kept going as Kiana Palacios took advantage of a bad defensive clearance and added to the tally.
Two minutes after coming off the bench, Charlyn Corral connected with a sensational scissor kick in the 63’. Corral scored again in the 86’ to collect her brace.
The result sees Mexico win Group A with a perfect 4-0-0 record to claim a spot in the 2026 W Concacaf Championship.
Puerto Rico concluded its campaign in second place of Group A with a 3-0-1 record.
