Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted his concern over the muscle injury sustained by striker Viktor Gyökeres (27) during Saturday’s 2-0 victory at Burnley, BBC Sport reports.

The £64m summer signing opened the scoring at Turf Moor before being substituted at half-time, and he has not trained since. The 27-year-old Swede, who has scored four Premier League goals this season, has been ruled out of Tuesday’s Champions League trip to Slavia Prague, with further tests scheduled to determine the extent of the problem.

No, he’s definitely not available,” Arteta confirmed. “He hasn’t trained today. We need more tests and scans to understand the extent of the injury. But he’s not available.

Pressed on whether the issue might be short-term, the Arsenal boss gave a cautious response. “I am concerned,” he admitted. “He hasn’t had many muscular problems, but he felt something and had to come off. That’s never a good sign, especially for a player who’s very explosive.”

Gyökeres joins a lengthy absentee list that includes Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli, Noni Madueke, and Gabriel Jesus, leaving Arsenal stretched in attack as their demanding fixture schedule continues. Arteta said the club will provide an update once the medical team completes its assessment.
