Christopher Nkunku has never made an impact in Serie A since his arrival at Milan from Chelsea last summer. He was linked with an exit in January but decision about his future has now been made.
La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that the Frenchman’s agent Pini Zahavi spoke to the Rossoneri about Nkunku yesterday, when conversations were also held about Robert Lewandowski.
Zahavi was informed that Milan have formally listed the ex-Blues man for a summer transfer. As a result, he now has the mandate to find a new club for his client, who is currently valued at around €40 million by Max Allegri’s side as they look for a capital gain.
There is a lot of interest in Nkunku and Milan also aim to use the money earned from his sale to sign a replacement.
Tactically, Nkunku has never felt like a fit for Allegri’s system, which prefers more of attackers that have an engine and physical traits that help them add thrust to the pragmatic setup. Nkuku has often appeared slower, if not a bit frail.
That is why it will make sense for him to pursue a new club too, while acknowledging that the move to the San Siro is probably never going in the right direction under the Italian.
Milan will cut their losses when the time is right, instead of prolonging his exit and lowering his value.
