Milan are weighing up a late move for Liverpool defender Joe Gomez as they look to finalize their defensive options before the January window shuts.

According to Daniele Longo, the Rossoneri are holding out hope that Liverpool might grant a last-minute opening for the 28-year-old Englishman. Gomez is a profile that appeals greatly to manager Massimiliano Allegri, and Milan’s interest is far from new. The club had already attempted to bring him to the San Siro during the summer transfer window.

The search for a reliable defensive reinforcement has seen technical director Igli Tare explore several avenues. Federico Gatti was another name considered by the Milan hierarchy, but the Italian international has shown no desire to leave Juventus midway through the season. While Radu Dragusin was also offered to the club, Milan have opted not to pursue the Tottenham man for now, leaving Gomez as a primary focus.

The deal remains dependent on Liverpool’s willingness to sanction a departure in the final days of the month, with Allegri keen to add Gomez’s versatility and experience to his backline.
