Milan are searching for a defender and have laid eyes on two Spanish youngsters, Gerard Martin and Victor Valdepenas, who are both left-footed. The former figures to be a significantly more expensive target.
According to Sport (via OneFootball), Wolverhampton tabled a €15M offer for him last summer, but he turned it down. Everton came forward late in the window, but they were rebuffed as well. The center-back is now drawing interest from a few Italian sides. The Blaugrana could cash in on some players who aren’t fixtures to foot their reinforcement campaign. However, his price tag is roughly €25M.
While Martin has already established himself and featured 75 times with Barcelona, Milan would be rolling the dice with Valdepenas. He’s considered one of the brightest prospects at the position and is being tracked by several clubs, especially from Germany and England, Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto report (via Settecalcio).
The Rossoneri have an excellent relationship with his agents, who also represent Mario Gila, and Real Madrid, with which they concocted the Brahim Diaz and Alex Jimenez deals in recent years. The 19-year-old has been a regular for the Castilla side and has one La Liga appearance under his belt. He has represented Spain U-19 five times.
They could use another lefty, but Pavlovic has been excellent and has room for improvement. A prospect who could grow behind him and fill in when needed would suffice. They could also go with a middling but trustworthy veteran since he wouldn’t have a big role. Instead, in other defensive positions, they’ll have to decide whether to splurge for somebody who could really challenge Fikayo Tomori and Matteo Gabbia.
