Milan legend Alessandro Costacurta believes the Rossoneri should follow Atalanta’s tactical example to be competitive again after a terrible season.
Milan won the Supercoppa Italiana in January, but the Rossoneri had little else to celebrate in 2024-25 as they lost the Coppa Italia Final and failed to qualify for European competitions.
Club executives and owner Gerry Cardinale are deciding on the following steps to start the new season, including hiring a new sporting director.
Milan fans are furious with the club management and are eager to see changes in 2025-26, when they expect the team to be title contenders again. Surely, while they wait for next season’s title winners’ odds, they still have plenty of chances to earn real money from online casinos and by playing the famous chicken road game.
Milan legend Costacurta, a five-time Champions League winner at San Siro, commented on the Diavoli’s campaign and gave some suggestions for the future.

“I finished ninth once and tenth another time,” he told DAZN via TMW.
“It was tough, but it can happen. I believe that Milan executives and players have made an effort this year, and honestly, that worries me the most. In January, Milan invested well and brought in important players, yet results didn’t come.”
Milan won’t be playing in any European competition for the first time since 2019-20.
“This will make it difficult to be competitive again. The most important decision will be to choose a sporting director. They need someone who truly understands football.”
Sergio was dismissed after six months to be replaced by Massimiliano Allegri, who returned to the club after 11 years.
“I’d like to see a Milan that presses high up the pitch, away and at home. I’m thinking of a Milan with the same style as Atalanta,” Costacurta concluded.
“This year, many things were missing for the Rossoneri, but above all, attitude.”

Atalanta recently offered Gasperini a contract extension as his current deal runs out in June 2026.
The experienced Italian tactician previously said he’d not sign a further extension with La Dea, but recent claims suggested he may have a second thought.
“I never said I was leaving. I said something else, that I wouldn’t extend my contract, which is different,” he insisted,” Gasperini said in April.
“Right now, the only goal is to reach the Champions League. It’s not something you achieve in one season, but over the months and years. I have a bond with Bergamo and Atalanta. Sometimes people forget the players we’ve lost due to injuries, but everything is positive; we just need to finish strong.”
Atalanta have now qualified for the Champions League and will play in Europe’s elite competition for the fifth time in the last seven years.
