Millwall have turned down two offers from Wycombe Wanderers for Aidomo Emakhu, who made 25 appearances for the Lions during the 2024-25 season.

Millwall have turned down two offers for one of their talented young forwards, as Wycombe Wanderers look to replace the gap left by the imminent departure of Richard Kone.

Millwall may face a fight to hold onto one of their talented young players, as Wycombe Wanderers hunt for a replacement for the departing Richard Kone, who is reportedly on his way to Queens Park Rangers. The Lions got off to a winning start in their 2025-26 Championship season with a 2-1 victory at Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.

Wycombe's pursuit of the player may be a solid hint that Richard Kone is set to leave the club. Kone was left out of their first eleven for their 2-1 home defeat to Stockport County at the weekend, but made a second-half appearance as a substitute.

Kone has since been reported to be the subject of a £2.75 million bid from Queens Park Rangers which has been accepted by the club. Wycombe, who reached the League One play-offs last season before losing narrowly in the semi-finals to Charlton Athletic, have now lost both of their opening league games of this season.

Southwark News report that Wycombe have had two bids rejected by Millwall for the young Irish forward Aidomo Emakhu, who made a brief appearance for Millwall at Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon. Emakhu was introduced in the 89th-minute of this match and squeezed in nine minutes of game time before the referee called time on the Lions' 2-1 win.

It remains unclear exactly how much Wycombe have offered in a bid to land the Republic of Ireland youth international's services, with the winger, who is estimated to earn a weekly wage of £6,500 by Capology, having been tipped as a player with a big future at Millwall.

Emakhu played in every one of Millwall's pre-season matches, and scored twice in the second half of their 6-2 win at National League side Sutton United at the end of July. He made 25 appearances for the Lions last season, although 19 of these came from the substitutes' bench.

Aidomo Emakhu doesn't look like a straight swap for Richard Kone

Aidomo Emakhu signed for Millwall from the Irish club Shamrock Rovers in January 2023 for an undisclosed fee, and made his debut for them the following month. He's already been capped by Ireland at under-19 and under-21 levels. He's made 48 appearances for the Lions since joining the club, but the majority of these appearances have come from the bench.

Richard Kone was a class act for Wycombe last season, but Emakhu doesn't look like a straight swap for him. Kone is a goalscorer. He managed 18 in 41 League appearances for the Chairboys in League One last season. But scoring goals has not yet been Emakhu's strong point since he arrived at The Den, having found the back of the net just once in the league in the two and a half years since he first joined the club.

But although his pre-season performances merited him getting on the pitch at Norwich on the opening weekend of the season, dropping a level to League One might turn out to be a good move for the player, although it does seem that Millwall are keen on keeping him at their club, and he clearly fits into the plans of head coach Alex Neil. The temptation of regular game-time may be enough to persuade the player that a switch to Wycombe could be very good for his career, but Millwall will have to be persuaded to sell, and with two rejected offers, that hasn't happened yet.
