Lewandowski’s high salary, coupled with his age profile, makes it a difficult proposition to ensure continuity at Barça. Aware of the situation, it appears MLS clubs are pushing hard to sign the player.

Lewandowski attracted to MLS move, retirement ruled out

Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg has offered an update on the future of Lewandowski, confirming that MLS clubs are indeed serious about signing the Barcelona forward in the summer.

He adds that Lewandowski himself is attracted to the idea of playing in the United States, which has been a popular destination in the recent past.

Players like Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba, Luis Suarez, Marco Reus and many others currently ply their trade in MLS, and Lewandowski could be yet another asset for the league.

The Pole, however, has other options too, including a move to Saudi Arabia. The player also has the option of seeking a more challenging adventure by joining another European team.

One thing is for certain, though, Lewandowski is not retiring at the end of the season despite multiple suggestions.

At 37, the former Dortmund and Bayern forward is still at the top of his game and could be an asset for any European club.

For now, though, the Pole will be focusing on the season at Barcelona. With the Catalans still alive in all three competitions, he will be keen on helping the team win the quadruple in what could be his final season at Barcelona.
