Mo Salah is reportedly in line to join one of his favourite Liverpool teammates. A true blockbuster move.

The Telegraph reports that Mo Salah could head to the Saudi Pro League this summer as he leaves Liverpool. The latter part of that has been confirmed, of course.

In fact, none of that is a surprise. The SPL has been linked with Salah for years now and he's viewed as their highest-priority signing.

Though, where he might land is a bit of a shock. The report claims Al-Hilal are the favourites to land Salah, as oppose to Al-Ittihad, who have been linked the most.

That's a deal which would link Salah up with Karim Benzema, his one-time rival for the Ballon d'Or. Even more importantly, it would also reunite the Liverpool legend with Darwin Nunez.

Salah is a massive fan of Nunez and the pair had a wonderful understanding at Anfield. They consistently combined for goals - and actually did that at a rate higher than Salah did with any other forward.

In fact, there's a lot to be said about his form dropping off when Nunez was left out of the team in the second half of last season. Let alone this season.

Nunez has endured a difficult time in Saudi Arabia and was left out of their squad for the league campaign. Salah's arrival could change everything, though, and perhaps get both of them flying once again.

Darwin Nunez: Situation Summary

As of 26 March 2026, Darwin Nunez is in a difficult position at Al-Hilal. Despite his high-profile move last summer, he was deregistered from the Saudi Pro League squad in February to accommodate Karim Benzema due to foreign player limits. This has left him unable to play domestic league football, restricting him solely to the AFC Champions League.

Potential Transfer

Nunez’s lack of playing time has sparked rumours of a return to Europe this summer. Tottenham and AC Milan are reportedly interested, though his substantial wages of £400,000 per week remain a major obstacle for most suitors. His market valuation has dipped significantly since his move to Riyadh.

International Call-up

Despite the lack of consistent club minutes, Marcelo Bielsa has included Nunez in the Uruguay squad for the March friendlies against England and Algeria. This window is seen as a critical opportunity for the striker to find his rhythm and prove his fitness ahead of the 2026 World Cup. Before his registration issues, he had recorded 9 goals and 5 assists in 24 games.
