Luka Modric's officially signed with AC Milan on free transfer ending legendary 13 year spell at Real Madrid.

The Croatian midfielder penned 1 year contract with option for 2nd aiming to make impact in Serie A after joining during the 2025 summer window.

Why Milan? Modric Explains His Choice

During his unveiling press conference, the 38 year old didn’t hide his admiration for his new club.

"Milan's on the same level as Real Madrid, From the moment I arrived, I saw how massive this club is .. top level organization, passionate fans, iconic stadium and rich legacy. 7 European titles speak volumes" Modric said.

From Madrid Glory to Milan’s Ambition

Modric reflected on his journey, stating:

"I spent 13 year at the world’s biggest club but Milan used to be just like Real. The club's lost that edge recently but now it’s time to reclaim it. I'm here to help bring Milan back to the top"

He added that although Milan won’t compete in Europe this season:

"It’s not ideal but having 1 match per week might help us prepare better. Expectations here are high .. that’s what drives me"

Ancelotti’s Words & Personal Drive

The veteran midfielder revealed he spoke with Carlo Ancelotti before the move.

“He told me everything about Milan having been here as player & coach. I know the Italian league is tough and tactical. I’ll need to adapt quickly and contribute as I always do”

World Cup 2026 Still in Sight

Modric confirmed that continuing with the Croatia national team remains top goal:

"I want to play in the 2026 World cup. That’s why I stayed competitive and chose Milan over easier route"

"I could’ve gone to less demanding league but that’s not who I am. I love football, I love challenges and I’m here because Milan expects the best and so do I"..
