Liverpool's ongoing search for a long-term Mohamed Salah replacement points towards the signing of another Egyptian, Omar Marmoush.
The Eintract Frankfurt forward is in scintillating form this season with eleven goals in just ten Bundesliga games, along with seven assists. He's one of the only players in world football matching Salah's numbers this season, having a total of 14 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.
Marmoush wants to join Liverpool and would be a brilliant addition to Arne Slot's forward line, while Salah is out of contract at the end of the season, and has options in both Saudi Arabia and Europe if Liverpool decide not to offer him a new deal.
Comparisons between Salah and his Egyptian teammate are bound to follow, especially due to Liverpool's interest in signing him.
In fact, both Salah and Marmoush were left out of Egypt's squad for their trip to Cape Verde during the international break - both players have been given a rest by their manager, and it's a sign of Marmoush's rising importance that he has been given the same treatment as his legendary teammate.
And now Salah has spoken out about those comparisons amidst the transfer speculation surrounding Marmoush, having taken time during the international break to travel to the Middle East to speak at the Sharjah International Book Fair as a guest of honour.
